Meet Our Faculty
If you haven't guessed by now, Farmington is a pretty informal college — starting at the top. If you drop by the college president's office, you'll probably find her at her Mac wearing running shoes or thick wooly socks while she's hard at work.
And yes, you can just drop on by to see her. She actually enjoys having students come by just to chat. Like most everyone on this campus, she's very friendly and very accessible.
We Take Our Academics — Not Ourselves — Seriously
At Farmington, our professors take their teaching seriously but they don't take themselves too seriously. Whether it's collaborating with students on a research project, holding office hours to review a term paper, or just hanging out in the Student Center snack bar with a cup of coffee, UMF professors make themselves available to meet and talk with their students: before classes, between classes, and after classes. They take the time and care to get to know you personally — your favorite sports teams, what bands you're listening to, your favorite authors, your research passions and more.
Sharing ideas, debating politics, doing collaborative research, helping with a tricky assignment, or just stopping by to chat when you're soaking up the sun in the courtyard between classes, our professors are an active part of our students’ lives. They genuinely care. (This is something that doesn't always happen at all schools, but it's just part of "The Farmington Way.")
